WIP - Sandstone No. 4

Sometimes anger can work for you and other times against you.  Frustration cuts the same way as well.  I started going through a pile of WIP's, frustrated with the size it's become and still pissed of at some comments today that at this point are just pointless.  As my husband likes to point out some folks taste is all in their mouth.

So, after putting Canyonlands No. 2 to rest for the evening I started auditioning my pile of WIP's.  Do you see him?  The Medicine Man, peering out from the stoney surface? I'm not sure if the image can be made larger by clicking on it or not.

Canyonlands No. 2 - WIP

Cutch and compost dyeing on silk chiffon crepe type fabric. Wool quilt batting, natural dyed cotton batting, Aurifil Threads, machine stitched.

A herd of wild corn bails wander a field in Story County, Iowa. Approach with caution, they can be quite dangerous when spooked, rolling here and there with no particular destination in mind!

Embroidery Collage Kits

A quart of fun in various monochromatic color choices.  I will have more photos in the shop of each colorway, each bag contains some fun items, embroidery thread and pearl cotton, jumbo beads, found objects, and fabric, plus a one white fat quarter of cotton fabric.

Blog Yard Sale

Blog yard sale - I'm working on that.  It turns out these sorts of things are way harder in real time, especially since John was on vacation this past week, than when just pondering them.  Sound familiar?  So much to do and so little time to do them in.

Some goodies that'll be going into the shop and soon!  I have these kits of collage/embroidery yummies in pinks, yellows, blues, and greens.

Yard Sale Success!

 



The yard sale was a hit yesterday with the troll fabric selling within the first fifteen minutes!  The sale was such a hit that Brenda and I are having another one the 29th so that we can purge our studios even more.  I have to admit I am seeing things in my studio I haven't looked at in almost a decade now, some I'm really happy to see and others it's time for those fabric, and fibers, etc. to go live elsewhere.



So far my Compost Dyeing eBook has sold two copies on Amazon!  YEAH!!!  Now I have to confess I'm scared spitless because I'm very new to how this all works via a third party seller.  Starting tomorrow I will begin fixing the edit changes in the print version of the book and hope to have that available and soon! 

An update coming up on my money post this week, I've been doing some serious soul searching on this topic. 

Also this week I will be hosting a mini blog yard sale for those of you who aren't local.

Suprise You've Got Ink! D'Uva Inks

These arrived in the mail today, no return address, just a postmark from someplace in Nebraska that starts with a "P".  I have to admit I'm curious as the label states that these are for fabric... can't wait to try them out later this evening.

Couching Dilemma

I had a feeling this was going to happen, I love the indigo and tannin dyed sisal so much I used it all up.  So do I go start a new indigo vat, which won't be ready until Saturday to use at the earliest and that coincides with my yard sale which means no dyeing on Saturday, or do I couch something else down instead?  I have on tiny six inch bit left of the sisal and no idea where to put it on the piece! 

The Marsh is Green!

Well after it dried up it rained, but not enough to fill the marsh again, now it's filled with vegetation most of it appears to be fox tail.

Bjorkboda marsh all greened up, can't wait for the rains to fill it again.

To Couch or Not to Couch

Indigo and tannin dyed sisal, am contemplating couching some to the surface of Bjorkboda.

Definately not as one mass but more like bits and pieces, more like the stand of cottonwoods at the marsh bent, broken, and leaning.

And maybe a little knotted, like the vines that creep over the cottonwood trunks.

Lots of trees down at the marsh, we had some storms rip through here last week with high winds. 

One of the younger trees also came down in the wind storm.

Lost and Found

Am looking through my stash of fabrics for a missing spool of thread, it's still missing, but I'm finding some yummies that are in need of pressing and stitching!  These pieces are from 2000-2002

Now that I'm into a new body of work based on my favorite marsh the ideas are starting to flow again.

 

I also found a few pieces for my "sandstone" series hiding in my stash of fabrics.

 

And maybe even a few new "Blood River Canyon" pieces.
